I am Abby Farnsworth and a fourth year communications student at Thompson Rivers University. Throughout my years at TRU I have garnered my skills in media analysis, public relations, videography, article writing and graphic/UI design. With an affinity for creativity and a knack for storytelling I have been able to conduct journalistic articles, campaigns and short films. I am an ambitious hard worker, which can be seen in my high school valedictorian and university dean’s list awards; as well as completing the motion picture orientation and exam, which allows me to work on a unionized film set.
In addition to my academics, I volunteer and advocate for BC Transplant, which allows me to practice my public speaking skills. I participate in recreational and competition dance which has strengthened my collaborative skills with others. Playing video games with others has also strengthened my collaborative communications skill and forces me to adapt to different scenarios or controller functions.
Over the past four years of attending Thompson Rivers University I have gained and honed multiple skills that will be useful for my future. Some of these skills include media analysis, public relations, videography, article writing and graphic/UI design. My ambition and hard work has been able to get me a valedictorian and dean’s list award. Beyond my academics, my volunteer work and engagement in dance and video games highlights my public speaking, collaboration and adaptability skills.
